I’ll get right to it – ANY TIME of year can be the best time of year for family photos.
Here’s why. . .
The best time of year for family photos depends on your desired location
The PNW is a gorgeous place to live, with our pick of views from the ocean to the mountains and everything in between. It’s no secret that we are known for our rainfall, but it’s still possible to get (dry) beautiful photos any time of year.
Outdoor photo sessions are heavily driven by the weather
Winter (December – February): let’s go find some snow! It can make for really beautiful and fun photos (snowball fight, anyone?)
Spring (March – May): this time of year can be hit or miss for weather. Even if it’s a spring that’s heavier on the rain like this year, there are still opportunities to find a spot outside for photos
Summer (June – September): you will be pretty safe to assume we won’t have to reschedule for rain, and there’s only a few weeks where it may be on the unbearably hot side. There are lots of options for locations during this time of year, the beach being one of my favorites!
Fall (late Sept – November): we get some wonderfully crisp and sunny days in the fall. It’s easy to find a spot that will look good in the background of your photos, especially when the leaves start changing.
I am a Tacoma family and newborn photographer, but I’m open to traveling around the PNW for sessions! Cold and rainy in one area can be, well…not cold and not rainy in another. Or better yet, it could be hot in the South Sound but nice and cool on the coast!
Indoor sessions can be done any time of the year!
If you don’t want the weather to be a factor, taking family photos inside is always an option! Your home can make the perfect spot and adds a personal touch to your images. We can also get creative with other indoor options. We’ll find the brightest spots wherever we land and make magic 🙂
Why choose your home for family photos?
I say, why not?
In home family photos are a great option for any family. It’s where you are comfortable, it’s a place that’s meaningful, and the weather doesn’t matter. We can document your family interactions while you do something together (think baking, playing music, or just plain playing and having fun), your kids can show off their best moves and their favorite toys, and you can relax knowing that snacks and extra clothes are just a few steps away
All of the above doesn’t just apply to family photos – this goes for maternity, seniors, couples and more. Any time of year will work to get those photos done – you don’t have to wait until fall! 🙂
Have a specific location in mind for your photos? I’d love to hear about it!
