Chambers Creek Regional Park (or Chambers Bay as it’s often referred to) is one of my favorite places to photograph my clients. Located in University Place, WA, it is a beautiful spot situated on the shores of south Puget Sound. Featuring beach access and miles of paved trails, it’s also home to the links-style Chambers Bay Golf Course. There are spectacular views of the water, the Olympic mountains on clear days, and nearby islands from just about anywhere in the park.
If you ask me to be your Tacoma family photographer, Chambers Bay will almost always be on the my list of recommended locations!
There is a variety of scenery for family photos at Chambers Bay park
We have lots of options for spots to take your photos depending on the style you’re going for and how far you want to walk 😉 From the beach and shoreline, the bridge over the train tracks, the open field and the old concrete structures, we will not be lacking in options here.
Chambers Bay park is not only a great spot for Tacoma family photos, but for maternity and senior photography sessions, too!
Chambers Bay Park is beautiful all year round!
I’m quite partial to places with water views, but the views from Chambers Bay park are awesome. While it’s much colder and windier in the winter months, it’s still a beautiful spot to have as the backdrop for your photos any time of year.
You kids will have lots of room to explore during a family photo session at Chambers Bay
There are many things for kids to explore and get their wiggles out. We can let them run around on the paved trails, play in the open meadow, or explore the beach. You’ll get beautifully genuine photos of them being kids while you all enjoy the space as a family. If we’re lucky, we’ll see a train or two chug by on the tracks. Or, the tide will be low enough to see some tiny crabs or other sea creatures.
Important things to know for family photos at Chambers Bay Park
If you choose to have me meet you here for your session, know that it can be a sizeable walk depending on where we decide to land.
Strollers may be necessary to help little ones out and make the most of our time together. The beach is also quite rocky, so you’ll want to make sure to take that into consideration when planning your outfits.
If you’ve never explored the park before, you’re missing out! I’m frequently taking walks on the trails while catching up on podcasts, or taking my kids to the awesome playground. I’ve seen some of the most beautiful sunsets from this spot, too. The view here truly never gets old!
I hope that I’ve convinced you how awesome this place is by now for your photos, or at the very least gave you some reasons to go check it out for fun.
